So today, during my fifth period class, Graphic Design, we had a lockdown. It was without any warning so we knew it wasn't a drill. It started around 1:30 and ended about 3:30, but I didn't get to leave until 4:00. The reason was because some fucker decided it would be funny to tell the school they were going to shoot it up. (Through text or something) This is the kind of crap that seriously makes me lose faith in people. My school is kind of special. It's filled with a variety of people. I'd say at least half are not straight, having problems with depression and/or anxiety, going through abuse whether it be physical, emotional, or even maybe relationship abuse, financial problems, rape victims, anything! Think of something and we got it. (Except for racism, we're good on that part) Thing is, with something as serious as this, it can really fuck people up. Luckily, my class was small and we all had access to what was going on so we were pretty calm. Not everyone was like that though. I knew a lot of people who could have been scarred by this. I really don't see what was so funny about this, it sucks. I keep saying it over and over again, it fucks people up. It's not funny, and the thought that this "prank" would give someone a laugh makes me so angry. Not only that, but the middle school and the elementary schools were threatened too. Elementary! Seriously, they're in fucking first grade, why would anyone put them through this shit! If it was bad here, imagine all the crying students there! What in the world would make you ever want to threaten first graders? I just...I really can't believe anyone would do this. People had to be escorted to their parent's cars by armed cops. Busses had to have the O.K. from the cops for their safety. Sports had to be cancelled. We're just lucky that the cross country team had already left earlier. I just can't fathom it. It's a terrifying experience thinking that someone would want to shoot you, even if you didn't know it was just some kind of joke. I'm sure it messed up a lot of people.
